localfreak | 04:51 pm - 12DaysofChristmas Challenge: Day 10: Journey(s) Only one I'm afraid because I wrote this and then my brain just went crazy with possibilities for continuing it. Sadly, at present, RL (and 9500wordsdue in in a very short amount of time in particular) has meant I didn't write the sequals I intended for this but I'm hopeful that at some point I'll come back and write more for this universe/on this idea. This piece can be read as standalone or the start of something bigger.
I also want to know if anyone gets why it could be the start of something bigger- I stole something to make it parallel with a different fandom
Kudos to versipellis who got it in one!
Title: Following the Doe Author: Lord Localfreak Fandom: Harry Potter Ship: unrequited SS/LP Summary: He was dying...DH compliant
He was dying, Nagini’s venom spreading through his agonised, aching limbs, blood loss making his head spin, all the while he was forcing memories into Harry Potter’s head until his strength waned completely, he was so tired. Lily’s Boy: A part of him sobbed at the thought; all his trying, all his torments and still, still, the boy would face his death. But he was tired, he wouldn’t know the outcome of the war, it felt as if all his life he’d been fighting, he wouldn’t live to see a time of peace (if such a thing was possible); relief flooded him, the constant desire to rest could finally be obeyed. The pain ceased and he shut his eyes, seemingly only for a moment…
When he opened them again he knew he was dead, he felt a strange, floating feeling all around him. When he looked around he did not see a familiar world. It was like a forest, but he heard nothing, felt no breeze, saw little, did not think to glance around, as he would have done in life, and examine the various flora of the area. The forest was made of whites and greys, black tree-trunks silhouetted against a vast nothingness. And- there- there! Gleaming in the darkness stood a silver doe, like his patronus, except he had cast no spell, made no movement, held no wand- the doe ran amidst the trees and he followed it without moving his arms or legs-simply felt himself moving forward. He followed it darting through the undergrowth, leaping over silver trickling brooks, on and on he followed it until he came to a large doorway filled with gleaming light, and, where the doe went, he followed and stepped through without fear.
