11:26 am - 12 Days of Christmas Challenge: 11: part 2 Title:The Astronomy Tower Author:Lord Localfreak Fandom:Harry Potter Ship:None Summary:Strange how one person's romance is another one's filth Professor Ponoma Sprout, head of Hufflepuff House and widely acknowledged as ‘a bit of a soft touch’ by the rest of the faculty always hated it when it was her turn to patrol the Astronomy Tower. Of course she understood the need of it, one couldn’t let amorous students get away with sneaking up there; after all they had the children’s innocence (and the school’s reputation) to think about.
But even so…
She had such fond memories of it herself. She quite understood the attraction to young couples, particularly those in different houses, sneaking out in the dark for a romantic evening up in the tallest tower where the moon and the stars often seemed closer than the grounds themselves. She remembered the excitement just holding hands with one’s beau in the dead of night in a forbidden place could be. She still shoo-ed out amorous couples from the tower, it was part of her job but she always did so with a heavy heart and a fond smile and never took points.
Professor Severus Snape, head of Slytherin House and widely acknowledged as a ‘greasy git’ by the students (and some of the faculty too) always enjoyed patrolling the Astronomy Tower. There was nothing more satisfying than thwarting the depraved, horny adolescents of a night’s pleasure. They were never more humiliated or jumpy as when his throat was cleared whilst they necked obliviously trying to explore the tonsils of their current, equally horny, spotty and unpleasant, partner. Sometimes he could barely stop himself from laughing aloud at their red-faces and gormless expressions as he prised them apart. No, no, there was very little in this world more satisfying than patrolling the Astronomy tower at night.
Author's note: I called this 'a bit of a cheat' because it doesn't actually involve any night time trysts in it, just references to them. Also I'm disturbed, on reading back, at the possibility it might appear to be a Snape/Sprout fic. I hope I'm mistake. If you want to pretend it is than that's fine but please note that it wasn't intended that way!!!!!!

This is great. I now want to read about McGonagall and whoever's the Head of Ravenclaw (it's never said in the books, but I think JKR might have mentioned it in an interview) and their views on patrolling the same.
I now need to re-read it and FORCE it to be as Snape/Sprout fic because that'd be amusing. But if it's any consolation, I didn't immediately jump to that conclusion :)
*phew* good :) it was only after I read it I started thinking 'hang on...if you squint does it imply Snape/Sprout?' I did consider doing all four heads of houses but I couldn't think of anything I knew about Flitwick (it is Flitwick isn't it?) to make it easy to contrast with McGonnagal. I'd have thought McGonnagal to be kind of 'it is not proper-and button that blouse immediately'. I picked Sprout because I wanted to do Snape's view and thought Sprout was the kind of teacher I could think of as being a right soft-touch romantic.
