The internet is a kind of bubble-based communication in which no one can hurt you and even if people try to verbally hurt you they can't find you in RL. You feel safe with the internet. It's like, even though behind every comment, every interaction you are intellectually aware that this is another person the anonymity, the sense of protective safety makes interaction a great and liberating pleasure. I have never felt the urge particularly to meet up with people I have met online, not even Really Cool Awesome people who write awesome stuff/blogs. I don't want to. I don't care to. I am completely happy with interactions via the web staying on the web. I don't like crossover, it makes me jumpy.
