11:48 am So yesterday I went to Lancaster.
I got the train that was meant to go at 15.27. It did notgo until over half an hour later and OH GOD THE CROWDS.
Rush Hour on Friday is always crowded but it was even more so because of the Six Nations rugby so the train was filled with friendly, drunk Welshmen going to watch their team play Scotland this weekend.
3 Main Reasons to Hate Virgin Trains 1. Never on Time. THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN TO SHERLOCK HOLMES 2. There's never any room to stand or sit 3. Next to no space for luggage on a train that travels from Wales to Scotland! 4. The price of train tickets has gone up 5. First class is always enty. 6. Disabled Access is atrocious 7. Toilets are worse 8. YOU CAN'T BLOODY MOVE
...sorry. Did I say 3?
I thought I managed rather well, had a chat with an Italian man who works in Wigan but lives in Edinburgh and, as I said, the friendly drunk Welshmen who were very kind and offered to buy a round for everyone (everyone, of course, declined gracefully but it was nice of him to offer) and a couple of soldiers who were getting off at Wigan and such.
Then I got off. And realised I could breathe.
I wasn't too late but I was later than hoped and walked to Sainsbury's for the facilities and then vaccilated about whether I should buy a drink then get a taxi to the audition or skip the drink and walk. I finally (and I mean, pacing up and down for five minutes) picked the drink and it was probably a good thing I did as, as I sat down, I realised my head hurt and I was shaking and bleugh. Crowded places do this to me sometimes. So I thought well, it was better I have a small collapse there than walk to rehearsal only to collapse and be a total mess over everyone. I was so embarrased I implied I'd got the taxi from the station.
Anyway it was great to see everyone again and we had fun and such and I've been cast as Brighella which amuses me highly as he is an innkeeper, and the first speaking role I ever played was an innkeeper. I'm not sure how to play him yet because he is quite humorous but not in as blatant a way as some of the others and I can't decide whether to play him straight and droll, or try something more innovative. I'm going to have a read and maybe try him camp as well and see whether that works (might be overkill, too many flambuoyants etc, but I might as well try it out and find a voice for him)
Then everyone shared a taxi which finished off by dropping me at the station door and I wandered in to get the twenty-past eight train.
It didn't come until after nine o clock. It wasn't that bad,I had a book, but there was no where comfortable to wait and it was FREEEEZING.
By the time I got home it was nearly eleven and my toes were blue. O.o I'm not exaggerating on that one, it was very disturbing. I was just so cold. I had cocoa, wrapped up in layers and went to bed with two extra blankets.
Today I watched my BRAN NEW SHINY DVD of Darren Hayes' This Delicate Film We've Made I was a bit leery at first because it's very arty and I thought 'cute but possibly going to be loooong' but it was really good. I actually cried at Maybe with the boy and the wolf-thing. Really moving stuff. Of course, I'm currently battling aheadache which threatens to become epic so I might blame my burt of over-sentimentality on that ;). But still. It was good.
'n stuff. My brain might still be frozen, do excuse me...
