06:27 pm - Brain Full of Fluff
Last night, after sharply yanking myself out of a thoroughly black mood (with appreciated assistance from lycoris I resolved that today I would get up early and be so hardworking, so productive, so forward-thinking that I'd simply have no time for stressing and grumpings and disasters and the like.

This didn't exactly go according to plan. On the surface I got quite a few things done: paid bills, did the shopping, made scouse and a trifle, knocked together a humorous 'get-well' video for Auntie Nicola, continued working on this booklet I'm writing.

On the other hand I overslept, completely couldn't tell what day of the week it was, took ages to get dressed because I was so busy pacing from room to room thinking (and lecturing) that I kept forgetting which item of clothing I needed, or what I was looking for, or indeed what I was doing at all. I was grumpy, at times badly so. Thus far I haven't done my day's revision, nor the hoovering, nor written any more begging letters etc etc.

As I told my mother "you're lucky I didn't put the carrots in the trifle and jelly in the scouse!" (yeuk. Jelly and scouse :S)

On brighter news:
A friend of mine has set up Graduate Calling a new and terribly fun and interesting blog. *PLUG PLUG*. She's got a real flair for prose so I do reccomend it!

Today's Papers (Localfreak Digests)

Most of the papers are focussed on Obama's Inaugeration (or however you spell it). Those who are familiar with my opinions may be relieved that I have chosen to be Tactfully Silent on the matter and take the whole thing with the good grace it is intended. (He'll probably be better than Bush, otherwise my interest is limited, which is a good thing).

The Tories have had a reshuffle, causing mum, who has a better grasp of who's who a lot of Yes Minister-Esque snarking as they've pulled out Ken Clarke for the front bench, even though the 'wish-wash brigade' (Nouveau Tories) hate his guts.

There's a virus attacking microsoft computers *clings to new one tightly. I only just got it and downloaded Rob's reccomendation of antivirus. KEEP OFF FILTHY HACKER SCUM. I've had quite enough of your shite over the years.

The Guardian has published a list of top 1000 comedy novels several of which I am pleased to have read/have read other works by the same author (e.g. Evelyn Waugh, Mark Haddon, Nick Hornby). And there are several on there I want to read (it just jogged my memory about Vile Bodies though I think wanting to read it because of Miles Malpractice (Y HALLO THAR HOMOSEXUALITY IN POPULAR CULTURE) is a good a reason as any, if slightly impolitic.

Am tempted to install The Sims now I have a super-shiny computer that has memory that'll make it work decently. lycoris' mother implied that the problems I've always had with them DYING ALL OVER THE PLACE may have something to do with the settings and I'm very tempted to check. Even without that I can while away happy hours making families and building houses without ever actually adding the two together (because I can't bear to see them die; I am weak).

And I think I'm going to listen to The Archer's tonight. I'm just nosy as to the end of the "SUBTLETY, Thy Name is Not Pig-girl" plot.

Quite depressingly, since their marriage (and even a bit before that) I have yet to wander in and come across any Hot Slashy Fun.

I didn't write a single smutty fic this year, I suppose I'm feeling quite put-out about it. Really it was because, with everyone off work I never really had an empty house and I can't write smut with relatives nearby. It just....can't occur. There was a lovely space in my Wilson/Mr Sprinkles one for a smut scene but I just bottled it. Obviously lacking in inspiration these days (or, you know, Ever).

Edit: Nicked from klgrem
